I add Allederm EZ Plus (sp?) to my dogs food once or twice a week. I own three Siberian Huskies and they wouldn't normally eat dry food by itself so Allederm being a liquid vitamin supplement tempts them to eat it even without meat scraps and whatnot. hope this helps.

Calcium in the right amount will be good for his bones, not necessarily his joints. As for joints: I’m not sure about shark cartilage, but glucosamine and chondroitin are so widely accepted as being effective that even people take them as supplements for arthritis!

Don’t get me wrong, I love Yahoo answers, but you should really double check with your vet or the package label for the right amounts. There IS such thing as vitamin toxicity:

Vitamin toxicity is a condition in which a person develops symptoms as side effects from taking massive doses of vitamins. Vitamins vary in the amounts that are required to cause toxicity and in the specific symptoms that result. Vitamin toxicity, which is also called hypervitaminosis or vitamin poisoning, is becoming more common in developed countries because of the popularity of vitamin supplements.

yes, I am giving my dog some vitamin that comes with the Dog Food I purchase. It is from HealthyTownandCountryPets dot com and I just love that stuff. My large breed dogs are doing so much better

You’re right, for getting Vitamin and Calcium tablets for your dog you don’t need a vets permission, though they still shouldn’t be overdosed.
I think that Calcium and Cartailage will make you dog feel stronger, but dont overdose, 2 tablets a day is enough.

I really don't know but I have my dog taking vitamins because I feel it helps with their diet

well amazin i have a rottweiler and my vet said vitamins would be a very good idea cuz i thought he was weak she said to go t a petsmart and read the backs of vitamon cases and pick what best suits wat u want ur dog on vitamins for ( just dont give himm to many vitamins )

well… i have my dog on arthritis pills because her joints are very bad… but ask ur vet to see if ur dog shud be taking them first!!! hope this helps!!!

I add salmon oil to my dog’s food, but that’s all. (Good for the coat, amongst other things.)
