Why are celebrities obsessed with humanizing their pets? I feel so bad when I see a cat wearing a parka or a dog wearing boots.
No. Never. If it was that cold out I would keep them inside.

I have been giving my puppies Pet- Cal as a supplement that the veterinarian recommended. I heard from a breeder of Rottweilers that this can be a detriment to my dog. What do you think and what are your references?
what about dog supplements such as structure and vertex? my vet told me to give them calcium. not for any particular reason just to give it. we also give them pet tabs a vitamin for dogs.
If your feeding your dog a high quality kibble then there is no need for supplements at all. Especially calcium!
Too much calcium can and has been linked to kidney stones and crystals in the dogs urine wjhich are always associated with UTI’s! Also bone issues later in life.
Your pup doesn’t need more calcium than the dog food has in it.
ADD: Your vet has given you some very questionalble advice. I personally would not give the dogs any of those supplements at all. The pup just doesn’t need them!
my cat Lucy is 19 and I thought Id supplement her with liquid vitamins, they have this bottled vitamin at the vet.. in case she ever gets worse and possibly gets diabetes as a result of her BUN and creatinine and other levels, would this elixir pose problems?? It smells sweet. Thanks and please give details.
Pet tinic works wonders on cats that can benefit from vitamin supplements – we use it in rescue a lot! I have never used it on a diabetic cat, nor have I ever heard of a cat developing diabetes from having CRF. I’d just take one problem at a time, and double check with the vet that the Pet tinic is appropriate for Lucy, and what the dosage should be for her. It’s dosed by weight, and my personal opinion is that the recommended dose is a bit high.
I am going to be traveling with my dog and the state requires a health certificate, Does anyone know what this might cost? I’ll have to get an exam/check up for my dog then get a health certificate. Thanks!
Hi,
When I traveled from Georgia to the Netherlands with my dogs the health certificate costed me $25.
I went to the vet within 30 days that I left and they filled out the certificate. That costed me about $50 to get the shots up to date that they require and the certificate. Not to mention the 60 mile travel to the only place in Georgia that I could actually get the stupid stamp to certify that it was valid.
This will obviously vary state to state. Check first with your vet.
Good luck, but it all eventually falls into place and is doable. Step by step.
I am not a member of the vet, where else can I take my cat. It seems like her leg is broken.
don’t call, take your cat to the vet. They wont turn you away as long as you have money or they have a heart. I’m sure they’ll let you sign up as a customer or somthing while your there.
So I have a medium size dog (roughly 60 lbs & about 4 yrs old) and I just started giving him "Pet Chews" Vitamins & Missing Link Supplements as directed. Is it bad to give them both at the same time or should i just stick to one? As a side questions what do vitamins do for a dog? what do supplements do for a dog?
Supplements supplement the food you are giving him, help it to digest and be used by the body more effectively. It will be fine to give them both, because one is vitamins and the other is minerals. Give it to them with their daily food. They also help improve skin & coat and cuts down on shedding a lot.
I know I should expose Wiggle Waggle 12 hours daily but I can only expose him to sunlight about 5 to 6 hours, however I have a UV lamp to make up for it.
Is it really necessary to give extra vitamins?
Hey AUDI, yep! Thank you. ![]()
I used to have a Red Ear Slider myself..I’m assuming that’s the kind of turtle you have..A UV lamp is a sufficient substitute for sunlight…and as far as giving extra vitamins..the turtle food you buy at the pet store has all the essential vitamins your turtle needs…
Hope that helps..
HEY I MIGT BE GETTING A DOG, BUT MY PARENTS ARE A LITTLE HARD….Ive been perswaiding them, mom told me to do some reserch about the yearly amount for health care and just care…If anyone here has a dog 1st what kind, and 2nd whats the care price about…..
If you get a puppy, the first year is rather pricy, due to all the vaccinations they require that first year. After that, they only need booster shots once a year, so the price gets better. What I would do, is call some of your local vets. Many will offer a "package" deal with a puppy for all it’s vaccinations, rabies shot and even spay or neutering. You could also check to see if you have a low cost clinic around you.
I have two cats. One was just diagnosed with a UTI. =( He’s on antibiotics. I also went and bought a bag of Purina Urinary Tract Health cat food, since I heard it’s good. I read on the website that you’re not supposed to mix it with other types of cat food. In other words, you’re only supposed to feed your cat the Purina Urinary Tract food for maximum effectiveness. So my question is, should I just put down the Purina and take up the regular food? Is it safe for me to do that?
Thanks guys! Any other tips on how to help my kitty feel better are welcome. This is his second UTI. (I think he’s stressed b/c we just moved.)
I have a Maine Coon who has had a few bouts with UTI’s and gave her antibiotics. I used the Purina one and for awhile it worked great but this last time the vet suggest a prescription diet for this condition, I have a male cat too and he eats the same thing it won’t hurt him, but may protect him from the condition. I have no way of making sure each eats only out of their own bowl bowl so the eat the same the best for the sick one.
