What about clothing repair? That would be popular with people who don’t know how and want to save money that way

I was looking for info on it, but can only find reviews on petco and the info in them are limited. I was wondering how long it took to take effect and how long it lasts and what herbs are used to make it.

How much would it improve the health of dog breeds if all the canine clubs changed their standards from cosmetic to the dogs ability to function as the breed was intended?
Yea I feel bad for some GSD’s. They’re such a beautiful and majestic looking breed but the slope in their back can be so low I’ve seen them trip over their own feet walking. So sad!

The breed standards don’t need to change, it’s the breeders interpretation or flagrant disregard of the breed standard, that has been accepted as the *norm* by judges, which needs to change.

Breeds that were created to do a job, should be bred to do that work, & only those proven to be mentally/physically sound & capable of being trained to do the type of work the breed was originally created to do, should be allowed to add their genes to the breed as whole.

Our old neighbors moved out about a month ago and they were feeding a ferell cat on a daily basis. they left the cat and the cat is an adult/old cat , and is now very skinny. Its sooo nice! ITS LOVEY DOVEY ! but anyways it is now very skinny, because its probally havent ate alot in the month. we are adopting it (: well just keeping it and we need to know how to get it back in health! like any formula.. special food.. vitamins?? please help!

The best food to get it back to a healthy weight is one that is closest to the natural food it would eat in the nature.

I can’t recommend feeding ANY dry food. Cats are designed to get their water from food. That’s the way nature designed them, they have low thirst drive. When fed dry, they won’t drink enough to compensate for the lack of moisture. They will only consume about 50% of the water they should be having. This can lead to kidney disease, UTI, crystals, blockage, renal failure and more.

Free feeding also leads to obesity. And the fact that dry food is over-processed means, that most of it’s little nutrition has been already destroyed, leaving almost no nutrients for your cat. It needs to eat more to meet it’s needs, and in the process consumes more calories from the fillers.

Btw wetting the dry food will not help. There’s bacteria on the kibble and the water would just allow it to grow.

The only way to give the cat it’s natural hydration is to feed it wet food only.

But some wet foods are junk too. That goes for most commercial foods. Just like the dry, they are often made with cheap fillers such as corn, wheat, soy, rice etc. These are not a part of cat’s natural diet (it’s an obligate carnivore – it eats meat!) and they are not designed to digest it. Grain is carbohydrate which the cats can’t process and it turns into blood sugar and fat, causing diabetes and obesity. In the wild, where cats only hunt for meat, diabetes and obesity are unheard of. It’s us who cause these by feeding a species inappropriate food.

The healthiest food to feed apart from raw feeding is grain-free wet food with no by-product. Learn to read the label and understand the ingredients. Some good brands are Wellness CORE, EVO, Merrick, Nature’s Variety, Blue Buffalo Wilderness and more. These will give your cat the proper hydration and nutrition it’s designed to get and it will be strong and healthy and regain proper weight.

If you switch it’s diet, do it gradually, by mixing the current food with the new one over couple of weeks until there’s only the new. This will prevent diarrhea and upset stomach.

Christmas is a special time of year but its important not to forget your pets.The following tips will help to keep your pets out of danger during the holiday season this year.

Firstly, please make sure your pet AVOIDs the following holiday food items:

Alcoholic beverages Chocolate (baker’s (dark), semi-sweet, milk chocolate) Coffee (grounds, beans, chocolate covered espresso beans) Moldy or spoiled foods Onions, onion powder Fatty foods Salt Yeast dough

Ingestion of any food that your pet is not used to can cause intestinal inflammation (vomiting and diarrhea), but those mentioned above are specific toxins that may cause more life threatening conditions in your pet.

Holiday season plants to avoid:

Lilies found in holiday flower arrangements can be deadly to your cat. Many types of lily, such as Tiger, Asian, Japanese Show, Easter, Stargazer, and the Casa Blanca, cause acute kidney failure in cats.

Poinsettias generally have low toxicity. If ingested, poinsettias irritate the mouth and stomach, causing mild vomiting or nausea.

Mistletoe can have a cardiovascular (heart and blood vessels) toxic effect. More commonly, however, mistletoe ingestion usually causes gastrointestinal upset.

Holly ingestion can cause vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, and lethargy.

Please call your veterinarian for advice in all cases to ensure that your pet doesnt need emergency veterinary care.

Hazards around the christmas tree:

Christmas tree water often contains fertilizers, that, if ingested, cause stomach upsets. Stagnant tree water can have extremely high bacterial content, which can cause vomiting, nausea, and diarrhea, if ingested.

Electric cords should be hidden or covered safely. If they were chewed, they could electrocute your pet.

Ribbons or tinsel can get stuck in the intestines and cause intestinal obstruction if ingested.

Batteries contain corrosives. If ingested they can cause serious ulceration to the mouth, tongue and intestines.

Glass ornaments can cut the tissues of the gastrointestinal tract if ingested.

Your medications:

Please keep all your prescriptions and medicines away from prying pets. Pain killers, cold medicines, anti-cancer drugs, antidepressants, vitamins, and diet pills can be lethal to your pet in very small dosages. For example, one 200mg ibuprofen tablet can cause serious stomach ulcers in a 10lb dog. Less than one acetaminophen tablet (325mg) can be extremely dangerous to a 7lb cat.

More winter hazards:

Antifreeze has a pleasant sweet taste but even in small amounts can be lethal. As little as one teaspoon of antifreeze can be deadly to a cat or dog. Please be very careful when changing your cars coolant and always thoroughly clean up any spills. Store your antifreeze in a tightly closed container well away from your pet. Low Tox brand antifreeze contains propylene glycol and is recommended to use in pet households as this is less toxic. If you think your pet has ingested anti-freeze of any type please call your emergency veterinarian immediately.

Ice melting products can be irritating to the skin and mouth. Signs of ingestion can include excessive drooling, depression and vomiting.

Rat and mouse killers are used a lot during the holiday season. These can be lethal to your pet. Please be careful.

Your animal may become poisoned with little warning. You should keep telephone numbers for your veterinarian and a local emergency veterinary service in a convenient location. If you suspect that your pet has ingested something poisonous, seek medical attention immediately.

As I believe in improving health naturally, it is crucial to boost our pet’s immune system to prevent illnesses and allow their body to heal itself.

Here are some things we can do to boost our pet’s immune system.

• Regular optimal amount of Vitamin C. Though dogs produce their own vitamin C, it may not be sufficient to maintain optimal health. Vitamin C is safe and there is no harm in overdosing Vitamin C as excessive amounts will be flushed out of the body. Personally, I prefer powdered form Vitamin C as I can add it into their meals easily without stuffing tablets in them. Solid gold has powdered Vitamin C or you can purchase the human version of vitamin C from pharmacy. Just go slow when introducing Vitamin C and keep to the optimal level amount daily. Too much at one go can cause diarrhea onset as the body purge the excess Vitamin C. If you cook or warm your dog food, add the vitamins & supplement last after the food is cooled and ready for feed. (Avoid microwaving your dog food to warm it as it will destroy the goodness of the foods. I prefer to give my dogs chilled food rather then microwaving it. All I need to do is boil some water quickly and pour some hot water into the food to make it at room temperature, than add the supplements accordingly.

• Healthy meals. Cook for or feed BARF diet, buy fresh meats and vegetables. Daily healthy fresh foods selection is essential for good health. Instead of giving dog treats which can be laden with chemicals and sugar, give your dog fruits and dried meats as treats instead.

• Fatty acids (e.g. Flaxseed oil/powder). Purchase flaxseed that is organic and bottled in dark container. Alternatively, quality supplements such as Missing link for Canine has all the essential vitamins, minerals and omega oils a dog needs. Missing link for Canine supplement is a balanced supplement encompassing omega oils, minerals and vitamins. If you purchase this, you no longer need any additional supplement. When buying any supplements, ensure your pet is not allergic to any of their ingredients.

At home, ensure the home is well ventilated. The age of automation has made many mundane chores a little easier. From the brew timer on your electric coffee maker to the automatic garage door opener, technology has changed the way we live. Need to change the channel on the television? The now ubiquitous remote control is a must-have item for the savvy couch potato.

Even our pets have not escaped the rise of modern technology, right down to the self-cleaning automatic cat litter box. These technological wonders offer the prospect of our cats having a clean litter pan each and every time. That is the promise and most of the products currently being offered would seem to fit the bill.

Most automatic, or semi automatic, cat boxes work along the same lines. A sensor, often an electric eye, senses when the cat has gone into the box. A timer activates the cleaning mechanism after the cat has left the box. The time delay is important for several reasons. If the cleaning mechanism were activated too soon, the cat may get spooked and abandon the litter box. When activated, a rake or scooping device scours the litter, removing the unwanted clumps.

An important component to most automatic cat boxes is clumping litter. Clumping litter adheres to fecal matter and urine, forming a ball or clump. There are certain models of automatic cat boxes that require the use of higher cost premium litter products or a pre-filled cartridge. The units requiring only a good quality clumping cat litter may offer some advantages when it comes to the cost or operation.

All automatic cat boxes require a power source. The most common power source is normal household electric service. Some units will run on batteries or household electric service. The battery operated units do have an advantage. Imagine leaving your feline friends alone for the weekend and the electrical service to your home is disrupted. Without a battery backup, the automatic feature of the litter box will simply not work. While it would not be the end of the world, you could be faced with an unexpected cleanup chore when you get home.

To say that these automatic cat litter boxes are completely automatic would be somewhat of a misstatement. The owner must still clean, dump or otherwise dispose of the waste. The amount of cleaning or dumping required depends on the size of the unit and how many cats are using the facilities. Disposal methods vary with the design of the unit. Several units require the use of disposable plastic trays. The trays are convenient and may include a snap on lid. The disadvantage for the owner is the need to buy replacement trays which can add to the operating expense beyond the cost of clumping cat litter.

Several units allow the use of recycled plastic shopping bags. Most folks appreciate the opportunity to recycle and this helps keep down the cost of operation. There is one caveat to the use of recycled plastic bags. Make sure the bag is not ripped or torn unless you want to leave a trail of cat litter behind. Otherwise, the use of recycled bags is very appealing.

Regardless of whether you have an old fashioned litter pan or the latest in hi tech auto boxes, there is still a need to clean the pan, change the tray and sweep up loose litter. Many cats will abandon a dirty litter box regardless of how high tech it may be. The health of your cat and yourself and family demands that litter boxes be kept clean. Feline fecal matter is known to carry several strains of bacteria that are potentially hazardous to humans. If you have doubts about the health of your cat or just want to avoid unwanted contact with cat waste, wearing gloves and a dust mask is a perfectly reasonable precaution.

The initial purchase price of one of these technological marvels can be several hundred dollars so some research on price versus feature may be in order. Be sure to calculate the recurring costs of trays, bags, litter and other accessories before making your purchase decision.
